Raw Wastewater Pumps

  Sheboygan Regional Wastewater Treatment Facility

        Raw Wastewater Pumps

Raw wastewater enters the plant wet-well via large underground pipes. It is pumped from the wet-well to the head of the plant by any combination of six Fairbanks & MorseŽ centrifugal pumps. Two of the pumps are driven by 200 horsepower premium efficiency electric motors with Variable Speed Drives, three of the pumps are driven by 250 horsepower standard efficiency electric motors with Eddy-Current Drives and one pump is powered by a 500 horsepower, twelve cylinder CaterpillarŽ engine that uses methane gas fuel produced at the plant. The CaterpillarŽ engine can also use natural gas purchased from Wisconsin Public Service as an alternative fuel. Each pump has a capacity of 11,800 gallons per minute (gpm).
